Excruciating pain of tooth is the worst condition which disturbs our daily activities and even wakes up at night. Toothache can be caused due to many reasons which mostly arise due to lack of proper tooth brushing with good toothpaste. Tooth decay, fractured tooth, wisdom tooth, tooth abscess and damaged pulp cause tooth pain. And taking an appointment with a dentist becomes imperative. But those who are afraid to go to him or don’t get an early appointment can use below natural remedies.
- Garlic: Garlic is a good culinary and medicinal herb which has antibacterial properties. The compound Allicin gives this herb a medicinal value. You can apply crushed garlic on aching tooth, even salt can be added to this garlic and then applied for better results. It may not be a good idea but you can also chew raw garlic. Allicin releases at the affected area and kills the bacteria. As there will be less or no (pain causing) bacteria, you will feel better after some time.
- Clove: Clove oil has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties which aids in toothache. You can apply few drops of clove oil on affected area or put cotton ball at the affected tooth after dipping into clove oil. You can dilute it with olive oil as initially it may feel strong or give burning sensation. Sunflower oil, sesame oil, oregano oil and nutmeg oil are also found to reduce toothache.
- Mint: It is been observed that mint tea gives relief from toothache. Add one teaspoon of dried mint leaves in a cup of water and boil it. When it cools down, use this to swish around your mouth.
- Guava: Chewing leaves of guava (until the liquid comes out and spread on tooth) helps ease tooth pain. Alternatively, you can boil leaves into water and when it cools down, just use a mouthwash.
- Lime: Soak cotton ball in lime juice and apply it on affected tooth. Keep it on sore for five minutes.
Above herbal and natural remedies can be used until you get relief. But if you don’t get relief, just rush to the dentist.
